The potentiometric surface maps must be updated on an annual basis, and signed & sealed by a qualified groundwater scientist. Those facilities that do not conduct groundwater monitoring should, at a minimum, include a site map that shows ALL monitoring locations.

Potentiometric Surface Maps. In 2006, the Groundwater Program started mapping the potentiometric surface of the unconsolidated (sand-and-gravel) and consolidated (bedrock) aquifers in the state. These maps show the contour of the water surface in the different aquifers. From the contours, the direction of groundwater flow can be determined.

This potentiometric map of the Eutaw-McShan aquifer in northeastern Mississippi is the third in a series of maps, prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Mississippi Department of Natural Resources, Bureau of Land and Water Resources, delineating the potentiometric surfaces of the major aquifers in Mississippi. The potentiometric maps from the three studies were scanned, geo-referenced, and combined to produce a composite potentiometric map of the Ozark aquifer that reflects current winter-spring water-level conditions. The pre-development potentiometric surface map was also scanned and geo-referenced to produce a digital version of the map. potentiometric surface in reports prior to this map series for the area south of latitude 27N used potentiometric-surface measurements that are now considered to have been composite heads of the Upper Floridan aquifer and overlying flow systems. Net changes in the potentiometric surface of the Upper Floridan aquifer Maps are a terrific way to learn about geography. Maybe you're looking to explore the country and learn about it while you're planning for or dreaming about a trip.

This report provides a potentiometric map of the Middle Trinity Aquifer for March 2018 and documents the data used to generate the map. The potentiometric map is based on water level measurements made in about 170 wells in the Meridian-upper Wilcox aquifer in October 1983, and on the approximate altitudes of water surfaces in some major streams. The contours show altitudes at which water levels would have stood in tightly cased unpumped wells.

groundwater elevation contour map in this report is a subset of the groundwater elevation contour map Potentiometric surface map.

Wells will provide water level measurements starting in 2012. These maps define the potentiometric surface, which is much like a topographic contour map but defines the distribution of potential energy in the groundwater system. Each contour, or equipotential, represents a line of equal hydraulic head.
