The vestibular nerve connects a bundle of nerves in the inner ear called the vestibular ganglion to four discrete areas in the brainstem: the superior, lateral, inferior, and medial vestibular nuclei.

The four main nuclei of the vestibular complex The vestibular complex comprises four main nuclei (Figure 4 A): the medial vestibular nucleus (MVN), the superior vestibular nucleus (SVN), the lateral vestibular nucleus (LVN), and the inferior (or descending) vestibular nucleus (IVN), as well as some other minor subgroups.

It is located in the medulla oblongata . Lateral vestibulo-spinal tract (lateral vestibular nucleus “Deiters”)- via ventrolateral medulla and spinal cord to ventral funiculus (lumbo-sacral segments). .. Ipsilaterally for posture.

Edit source History Talk (0) Share Vestibular nucleus (VN) and cerebellar flocculus are known as the core candidates for the neuroplasticity of vestibular system. However, it has been still elusive how to induce the artificial neuroplasticity, especially caused by an electrical stimulation, and assess the neuronal information related with the plasticity. 2020-08-14 · Human nervous system - Human nervous system - Vestibular functions: For vision to be effective, the retinal image must be stationary. This can be achieved only by maintaining the position of the eyes relative to the earth and using this as a stable platform for following a moving object.

Lateral vestibulo-spinal tract (lateral vestibular nucleus “Deiters”)- via ventrolateral medulla and spinal cord to ventral funiculus (lumbo-sacral segments). .. Ipsilaterally for posture. The ascending MLF mainly arises from the superior and medial vestibular nucleus (VN) and is involved in the generation of the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR). This is achieved by inputs to the VN from: the vestibulocochlear (8th cranial) nerve about head movements, … The lateral vestibular nucleus, also referred to as Deiter’s nucleus, constitutes the fibers which pass towards the spinal cord, forming the vestibulospinal tract. The vestibulospinal tract then passes to the ventral horn, primarily to lamina VIII but to a lesser degree lamina VII. 2021-04-08 (b) The lateral vestibular nucleus or nucleus of Deiters, consisting of large cells and situated in the lateral angle of the rhomboid fossa; the dorso-lateral part of this nucleus is sometimes termed the nucleus of … This video is about "Vestibular nuclei". Namely, the vestibular nuclei are: The superior vestibular nucleus (of Bechterew) Effects of vestibular nucleus lesions on heart rate responses during postural alterations. Figure 6 shows the effects of vestibular nucleus lesions on the change in heart rate from baseline levels for all amplitudes of tilts performed in the VCA condition. Each animal is represented in a separate panel, and heart rate changes are plotted The vestibular nuclei share multiple connections with the gray matter of the spinal cord, oculogyric nuclei (the nuclei of the CN III, IV and VI), the reticular formation and the cerebellum. Signals from the vestibular ganglion and the cerebellum travel to the vestibular nuclei, and from there go to the motor nuclei of the spinal cord.

The vestibular nuclei function in conjunction with the cerebellum to maintain equilibrium and posture, convey perception of head position and acceleration, and modify muscle tone.
